According to Cancer.org, in 2015, they estimate that:
About 231,840 new cases of invasive breast cancer
About 62,290 new cases of carcinoma in situ (CIS) of the breast will be found (CIS is non-invasive and is the earliest form of breast cancer).
About 40,290 deaths from breast cancer
Breast cancer is a health crisis in this nation. We are losing too many mothers, sisters, daughters and friends to breast cancer.
Part of the issue is a lack of new treatments, and, or the way we currently treat the disease. Looking at breast cancer through another lens, say from bio-entrepreneurs who are comprised of doctors and researchers proactively working on new treatments, better treatment strategies for people with breast cancer could save thousands of women
In order for new treatments and technologies to advance to the clinical trial phase and then to FDA approval, funds are required to bridge the #ValleyOfDeath, a funding bottleneck that has historically constrained progress.
