We spoke with ScreenAge about their bands origins and how they became involved with Music Beats Cancer. They work to match good music with good deeds and hope to spread inclusivity and positivity in any way they can.

Q: What was your original calling to music? How did you start?

Music has always been a huge part of all our lives, whether it was from the moment we came into the world or when we met at our former music school. We started the band after meeting at said school and we knew that we wanted to perform and write music as much as possible so we set out to grab every opportunity to do so.

Q: Who or what is your musical inspiration? Which artist(s) do you look up to? Did any of them inspire you to experiment with your music? Is there something new you’d like to try?

Our musical inspirations range from Paramore, Radiohead, Stevie Wonder, Carole King, John Mayer, etc. There are so many artists that we look up to both musically and personally. All the artists that we admire and strive to emulate are ones that put out beautiful messages in the world and that will always be our #1 priority to do so as well. All of them are constantly growing and bettering themselves both as musicians and people, so we try to follow in those footsteps and evolve our sound as we continue playing music.

Q: Why did you become involved with Music Beats Cancer? Has cancer directly or indirectly affected you?

We became involved with Music Beats Cancer because a mission like this is way too important to ignore. Cancer has affected each of us in many ways, whether it was through friends or family members having to face such a grueling struggle. When we found out that Music Beats Cancer exists as a way to help get funding to cancer-fighting innovations through something as universal and powerful as music, we knew we had to be a part of it.

Q: What is happening next in your music career?

Next in our music career, we’ll be finishing up our next album and getting ready to perform more and more as the world gets safer. We’re looking forward to participating in more challenges, fundraisers, etc., and doing our best to help everyone in every way we can. This has all barely scratched the surface and we’re determined to keep making our mark on the world.

Q: Anything else you would like Music Beats Cancer readers to know about you?

We hope that anyone and everyone who reads this knows that you have us on your side, rooting for you in every way possible. We’re so thankful that we got to participate in such an important event and we hope that our love and dedication to the cause got translated through our efforts.
